PSG Sarvajana School celebrates 102nd foundation day: Honours five distinguished Alumni

PSG Sarvajana Higher Secondary School celebrated its 102nd Foundation Day on Thursday, paying tribute to the founders of PSG & Sons’ Charities and honouring five distinguished alumni for their achievements and contributions across various fields.
Established in 1924 by PSG & Sons’ Charities, the school was founded with the aim of providing equal access to education. Its name, “Sarva Jana”, meaning “For All People”, reflects its commitment to making education accessible to all sections of society.
Renowned Tamil orator and television personality Ramalingam attended the event as the chief guest, while L. Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee of PSG & Sons’ Charities, presided over the function.
Addressing the gathering, Ramalingam urged students to understand and cherish the institution’s rich history. He said the school’s founders had set aside personal interests to make school education accessible to the public more than a century ago, setting an example for other institutions across India.
Referring to former President Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam’s emphasis on poverty as a major challenge facing India, Ramalingam said PSG Sarvajana was contributing to that vision by providing quality education to students from diverse backgrounds.
He encouraged students to imbibe the values and culture taught by the institution alongside academic learning.
Five alumni received the Distinguished Alumni Award 2026.
They were Sakunthala (1985–87), Headmistress of Corporation Primary School, Peelamedu; Tamilselvan (1983–85), Headmaster of Government Higher Secondary School, Kalapatti; Senthilkumar (1986–88), Managing Director of Bluemount Castings Pvt. Ltd., Mathampalayam; Ramesh (1986–88), Delivery Director at Cognizant Technology Solutions; and Dr. Vinayaga Prabhu (2003–05), associated with the Emergency Medical Unit at Government Medical College and Hospital, Tiruppur.
The celebration marked the school’s long-standing contribution to education and its continuing commitment to serving
society.
