Students of Kavithalayam Music Training School, functioning on the premises of Amman Matriculation School near Kongu Kalaiarangam in Erode, presented colourful Bharatanatyam performances as part of the Deepavali celebrations.
The music school, functioning under the leadership of Kavithalayam Ramalingam for the past 30 years, has been providing training in Bharatanatyam, vocal music, musical instruments and Western dance at an affordable
monthly fee of ₹200 to
₹300.
The institution has trained thousands of children and organised Bharatanatyam arangetrams for hundreds of students, providing them with opportunities to develop their artistic skills and showcase their talent on stage.
The school has been helping children from economically weaker sections realise their dreams of learning fine arts by making professional training accessible at a nominal cost.
Apart from its arts programmes, the institution has also been supporting the higher education of underprivileged students, particularly those from
single-parent families and children without parental support. Educational scholarships are regularly provided to deserving students to help them pursue higher studies.
The institution also celebrates important occasions such as Deepavali, Tamil New Year, Pongal and salangai pooja every year. Several competitions are organised as part of these celebrations, and prizes are distributed to encourage students.
Ministers, senior government officials and other prominent personalities are invited to participate in the events and motivate the young performers.
Through its sustained efforts over three decades, Kavithalayam has been promoting fine arts education while extending support to students from disadvantaged backgrounds, said Kavithalayam manager Vennila.
