A family appealed to Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay for urgent medical assistance to save their 16-year-old daughter, who is suffering from kidney failure, during his roadshow at the Old Bus Stand in Perundurai in Erode district on
Tuesday.
A large number of people from Pethampalayam and various parts of Perundurai had gathered along the route to welcome the Chief Minister. Among the crowd, the girl’s relatives held a placard bearing her photograph and appealing for a kidney donor and financial assistance for her treatment.
Sreemathi, a Class XI student of the Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Perundurai and daughter of Ananda Maheswari, is suffering from failure of both kidneys. She has been undergoing daily dialysis for the past few months. Doctors have advised an urgent kidney transplant to save her life.
However, the family has been unable to find a suitable donor or meet the cost of the treatment. The family had earlier lost its five-year-old son, Lokesh, to the same medical
condition.
