Vijay’s Campaign Postponed for Two Weeks After Karur Stampede: TVK

The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has announced that all public meetings of its leader Vijay will be postponed for the next two weeks following the stampede in Karur that claimed 41 lives during his campaign rally on September 27, 2025.

In a statement issued by the TVK headquarters, the party expressed deep sorrow over the tragedy. The release said, “In this situation where we are in pain and grief for the loss of our loved ones, our party leader’s public meetings scheduled for the next two weeks have been temporarily postponed. Fresh details regarding the rescheduled meetings will be announced later with the approval of our party leader.”

Vijay, who recently launched his political journey, has been holding statewide campaign tours every Saturday. In the first two weeks, he covered Tiruchirappalli, Ariyalur, Nagapattinam, and Tiruvarur. On September 27, he campaigned in Namakkal and Karur, where the tragic incident took place, prompting the postponement of the next phase of his campaign.

TVK clarified that Vijay’s campaign will resume after two weeks, once revised arrangements are finalized. The party underlined that the decision was made out of respect for the victims of the Karur tragedy while reaffirming Vijay’s commitment to continue his political outreach across Tamil Nadu.
