Commissioner inspects civic works in Coimbatore West Zone

Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner Ma. Sivaguru Prabhakaran, IAS, today inspected cleanliness and development works in the Western Zone of the city.

The Commissioner reviewed ongoing civic projects across all five Corporation zones — East, West, North, South, and Central. These included cleanliness drives, road works, construction activities, the 24-hour drinking water scheme, and underground sewerage works.

At the Health Inspector’s office in Veerakeralam, Ward 40, he checked sanitation workers’ attendance and work records. He instructed officials to clear garbage and unwanted materials from the office premises and maintain cleanliness. He also reviewed the ward map arrangements.

He later visited the bus stop on Thondamuthur Road in Veerakeralam, where he ordered the immediate removal of unauthorised advertising banners along the roadside. At the Anna Nagar Housing Unit in Ward 40, he inspected the segregation and collection of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste by sanitation workers.

Accompanying the Commissioner during the inspections were Municipal Welfare Officer Mohan, Town Planning Officer Rajasekaran, Assistant Town Welfare Officer Bhoopathi, Assistant Commissioner Durai Murugan, Assistant Town Planner Mahendran, Councillor Padmavathy, Zonal Health Officer Veeran, Assistant Engineer Vimala, Health Inspectors Rajendran and Salaith, Local Government Contract Administrator Venkatesh, and other Corporation officials.
