Security forces in Manipur have intensified operations to restore peace in the violence-affected state. In a major crackdown the day before yesterday, 11 terrorists belonging to various extremist outfits were arrested.
Officials said that several banned organizations, including the People’s War Group, People’s Liberation Front, Socialist Revolutionary Party, and United National Liberation Front, have been attempting to escalate unrest through violent activities. Monitoring their movements, security forces carried out a swift operation leading to the arrests.
During the raids, a cache of weapons and equipment was seized. This included an American-made M-16 rifle, five INSAS rifles, SIM cards, and a jeep believed to have been used by the terrorists.
Authorities confirmed that the arrested individuals were actively engaged in promoting militant operations across the state. Investigations are underway to identify further links and prevent future acts of violence.
Security forces reiterated their commitment to ensuring peace in Manipur, which has been reeling under communal tensions in recent months.
