Education Loan Camp in Pollachi – Collector Sanctions Rs 2.15 Crores for Students

A special education loan camp was conducted today at Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, Pollachi. On this occasion, Pavankumar G. Giriyappanavar, IAS, District Collector of Coimbatore, sanctioned Rs 2.15 crores in education loans to benefit 29 students pursuing higher education in engineering, arts, and science colleges.

The event witnessed the participation of  Sub-Collector of Pollachi, R. Viswanathan, Pollachi Revenue Divisional Officer, Dr. P. Govindaswamy, Principal of Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, M. Senthilkumar, Canara Bank Manager, Jeetendran, District Lead Bank Manager, along with students, faculty members, and bankers.

After distributing the loan orders, the Collector inspected stalls set up by participating banks, including Axis Bank, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, Indian Bank, and Union Bank, where guidance was provided on education loan procedures.

Speaking to reporters, the Collector said that large-scale education loan camps are being organized in Coimbatore district to support students pursuing higher education. He highlighted that last year, 3,251 students received loans worth Rs 333.14 crores, while this year, loans worth Rs140 crores are planned for nearly 6,000 students. Today’s event marked the second camp of the year, following the inaugural camp held last week.

He further clarified that students from other districts can also access loans through their respective bank branches in Coimbatore. He urged students to make full use of the scheme, pursue higher education, and move forward in life.
