Newborn’s Hand at Risk of Amputation After Alleged Wrong Injection

A deeply disturbing case of alleged medical negligence has come to light in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, where a newborn girl’s hand is reportedly at risk of amputation after being administered a wrong injection at a private hospital.

According to reports, Baleshwar Bhatti’s wife delivered a baby girl at a hospital in Greater Noida on October 5. Soon after birth, nurses administered a series of routine injections. However, following one of them, the infant’s hand began to swell, turn blue, and show signs of infection.

When the worried parents sought help from the hospital administration, they were allegedly told it was a minor side effect. The baby’s hand was bandaged, and the family was sent home. Over the next few days, the swelling worsened, and the baby’s hand began to rot. Alarmed, the parents rushed her to multiple hospitals, but each time they were referred elsewhere.

Doctors at the final hospital reportedly informed the family that the baby’s hand had suffered severe tissue damage and might need to be amputated to prevent the infection from spreading.

Devastated by the news, the baby’s father filed a complaint with the local police, alleging gross negligence by the hospital staff. The police have now sought a detailed report from the District Chief Medical Officer.

The heartbreaking incident has sparked outrage in Uttar Pradesh, reigniting concerns over patient safety, hospital accountability, and the need for stricter monitoring of newborn care practices in private medical facilities.
