Railway services resume on the damaged railway flyover at Chavadipalayam

Gateputhur is located near Chavadipalayam on the Erode-Karur route. The Erode-Karur railway line is located through this route. More than a hundred trains are running through this route daily.
The Gateputhur railway entrance bridge was built many years ago. All vehicles, including buses, pass under it. In this situation, Erode district has been receiving heavy rains for the past few days. Due to continuous rains, the 10-ton concrete parapet wall on the side of the railway bridge at Gateputhur suddenly collapsed last night and fell on the road.
Fortunately, no vehicle was passing at that time, so an accident was averted. Due to this, the train service was temporarily stopped and reconstruction work was carried out. Due to this, trains that could pass through Erode were stopped at various places during the night. Trains that could have gone through Erode were also diverted via Salem- Namakkal. Similarly, vehicle traffic was also stopped in the lower part of the bridge. Railway officials and engineers went to the scene of the incident and conducted an investigation. Repair work was carried out throughout the night. Temporary arrangements were made at this place and temporary iron tanks were installed under the railway entrance bridge and arrangements were made to continue the train service. Following this, trains are being operated again via the iron bridge entrance at a speed of 20 kilometers. However, some trains coming to Erode have been diverted via Salem- Namakkal. Since the iron tanks are blocking the road, vehicle traffic has been diverted through that route.
Due to the collapse of the bridge in the Gateputhur Chavadipalayam area along the Erode-Karur road, the road connects to the Thambiran Valasu, Vellakoil – Sangakiri road at Pattarai on the right side of the RD school. From there, the road traffic has been diverted to the right via Nanjai Uthukuli and join Chavadipalayam 4 road.
