In a chilling case of road rage, a couple in Bengaluru has been arrested for deliberately running over and killing a 24-year-old food delivery worker after a minor collision in Puttanahalli. The victim, Darshan (24), was walking along the Puttanahalli main road with his friend Varun Kumar on the night of October 25 when his two-wheeler brushed against a car driven by Manoj Kumar (34) and his wife Aarati Sharma (30). Following the minor accident, the couple reportedly began shouting at Darshan, who fled the spot in panic. In a shocking turn of events, Manoj and Aarati allegedly made a U-turn, chased him for about two kilometres, and rammed their car into his two-wheeler. Darshan died on the spot, while Varun sustained severe injuries and is undergoing treatment.
Initially, the Puttanahalli Traffic Police registered a hit-and-run case against unknown persons. However, after Varun’s parents filed a complaint, police reviewed CCTV footage that revealed the couple’s deliberate act. The video also showed the accused returning to the scene around 2 a.m., wearing masks and collecting broken car parts to destroy evidence. Based on the findings, the J.P. Nagar Police reclassified the case as murder and arrested Manoj Kumar and Aarati Sharma. They were produced before the court yesterday and remanded to judicial custody.
