A shocking incident was reported at a crematorium in Tirumala when a man was caught attempting to exhume a body buried the previous day.
According to police sources, Dilip (22), son of Shankara, and a resident of Madanapalle in Annamayya district of Andhra Pradesh, passed away last Friday evening due to ill health. After relatives and friends paid their respects, his body was taken to the crematorium located along Angichettipalle Road on Saturday evening and buried after the final rites.
On Sunday night, locals noticed a man behaving suspiciously near the crematorium. Moments later, he began digging up the spot where Dilip had been buried. Alerted by the act, residents rushed to the scene, caught him red-handed, and immediately informed the police and the deceased’s relatives. Police officials soon arrived and detained the man, identified as Govind, reportedly from Uttar Pradesh. During initial inquiry, he confessed to digging up the grave, but the motive behind his act remains unclear. The Tirumala Police have registered a case and arrested
Govind.
Authorities are investigating whether he intended to steal valuables, perform an occult ritual, or had any other reason for the act. Further investigation is underway.
