A gruesome murder that was initially disguised as a missing-person case has come to light in Jalna district, exposing a shocking conspiracy involving a woman and her husband’s younger brother.
Parameshwar, a resident of Samdhana village in Badanapur taluka, went missing last month. After the family’s search efforts failed, his wife Manisha, 25, lodged a missing complaint with the police. A case was registered, and an investigation began.
Two days ago, the body of a man was recovered from a nearby dam. Police identified the deceased as Parameshwar and confirmed that he had been murdered before being dumped in the water. With this discovery, officers intensified their probe.
During questioning, police found several contradictions in Manisha’s statements. A detailed investigation revealed that Manisha was allegedly involved in an illicit relationship with her brother-in-law, Dyaneshwar. Parameshwar had strongly opposed the affair, which led the pair to plan his murder.
According to police, on the night of the 15th of last month, Dyaneshwar attacked Parameshwar by hitting him on the head with a stone. While he was incapacitated, Manisha strangled him using a cloth. The duo then wrapped the body in a polythene sheet, tied a stone to it, and dumped it in the dam to cover up the crime.
Manisha and Dyaneshwar have been arrested and remanded in judicial custody. The cold-blooded killing has sent shockwaves through Samdhana village.
