In a chilling crime that has shocked residents of Ghaziabad, a 28-year-old woman allegedly murdered her husband with the help of her lover following repeated disputes over an illicit relationship.
The deceased, Akshay, aged 36, and his wife Ruby were residents of Ghaziabad. Police said Ruby was involved in an extramarital relationship with a youth from the same locality. When neighbours became aware of the affair, it became a subject of local gossip, further straining the marital relationship.
According to the investigation, Akshay had begun closely monitoring his wife’s movements. On one occasion, after pretending to leave for work, he reportedly returned home unexpectedly and caught Ruby with her lover. He allegedly reprimanded her and left. However, Ruby continued the relationship, leading to frequent quarrels between the husband and wife.
Police said Ruby and her lover later conspired to eliminate Akshay, whom they considered an obstacle to their relationship. Akshay was allegedly murdered with the assistance of the lover and a few associates.
In an attempt to conceal the crime and dispose of the body, the accused allegedly dismembered the body into pieces. Investigators revealed that household appliances, including a grinder and mixer, were used to mutilate some body parts. The remains were then packed into small bundles and dumped at different locations.
The crime came to light after Akshay’s family lodged a missing complaint. Police grew suspicious of Ruby’s behaviour during the inquiry and subjected her to sustained interrogation, during which she reportedly confessed to the murder.
Ruby and her lover have been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Police said further investigation is under way to trace other persons involved in the crime and recover additional evidence.
