‘Learn good virtues from others’

Students should learn good things from others they meet in society, advised S. Thirumoorthy, Secretary of the Nandha Educational Trust.
He was speaking at the 17th annual day celebrations of Nanda Central School held at Nanda Engineering College on Wednesday, under the chairmanship of the Trust’s Chairman, V. Shanmugan.
Speaking on the occasion, Thirumoorthy said that the Trust started a polytechnic college in 1992 with 34 students in a marriage hall in Sengodampallam, Erode. Now, the Trust has several educational institutions under its umbrella with 64,000 students.
This achievement was possible due to the love, kindness, and simplicity of his father, V. Shanmugan. We can emulate his simplicity, love, and kindness.
Similarly, his mother Banumathi guided the family and raised him and his brother. When a family is guided by two people (mother and father), both share the burdens.
This helps in the growth of the family, instead of one person bearing all the responsibilities. We should follow this kind of shared responsibility and teamwork.
Likewise, all the principals and teachers consider their institutions as their own and dedicate their service for its progress. Therefore, to progress in life, dedication and loyalty to the institution one works for are essential.
Parents should also have a role in raising their children. They should not beat or threaten their children if they make any mistakes.
This will only encourage them to secretly commit mistakes to escape punishment. Therefore, parents should correct their children only through their affection and love.
Students should also use this approach to get their demands fulfilled from their parents. Food boycotts or stubbornness should be avoided.
Instead, they should respectfully present their requests to their parents. They should also show similar respect to guests and relatives who visit their homes. He said that this would help them gain a good reputation and success in life.
The special guest, actor Erode Mahesh, school trustee Bhanumathi, principals A.G. Prakash Nair and Sara Ibrahim, and managing director Vidusha Murthy also spoke.
