AIADMK General Secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami met Vice President C P Radhakrishnan in Chennai on Friday. C P Radhakrishnan, who recently assumed office as Vice President, visited Chennai for the first time after taking charge. Earlier plans to organise a felicitation programme in his honour in the city had been postponed on two occasions. On his arrival in Chennai, the Vice President was accorded a warm reception by Tamil Nadu BJP functionaries and representatives of various residents’ welfare associations. A felicitation ceremony was held at Kalaivanar Arangam at 5 pm under the auspices of the MGR Foundation. Former Union Minister Hande presided over the event, while A C Shanmugam, Chancellor of the MGR Educational and Research Institute, chaired the function. During the visit, Edappadi K Palaniswami paid a courtesy call on Vice President C P Radhakrishnan and exchanged greetings. Sources said the meeting was cordial. Several political leaders, educationists and members of the public participated in the function, marking Vice President C P Radhakrishnan’s first major public engagement in Chennai after assuming office.
