The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has released the eligibility list for the 98th Academy Awards (Oscars 2026), scheduled to be held in Los Angeles in March.
According to the list, five Indian films have qualified for consideration across various categories. Kannada filmmaker and actor Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1 and Anupam Kher’s Tanvi
The Great have entered the eligibility list for the Best Picture category. Tamil film Tourist Family, starring Sasikumar, has also qualified in the Best Picture category.
Hindi director Neeraj Ghaywan’s Homebound has been submitted as India’s official entry and has made it to the shortlist of 15 films in its category. In the animation segment, Mahavatar Narsimha has been included in the Best Animated Feature Film category. Additionally, Sister Midnight, featuring Radhika Apte, has qualified in the general categories, including Best Picture.
The final list of Oscar nominations will be announced on January 22.
