Camford International School Celebrates Pongal With Cultural Fervour

The Camford International School celebrated Pongal, the traditional harvest festival of Tamil Nadu, with great enthusiasm, reflecting its commitment to preserving cultural heritage while instilling values of gratitude, community and sustainability among students.
The school campus wore a festive look with colourful kolams, sugarcane decorations, earthen pots and vibrant displays symbolising the four-day harvest festival — Bhogi, Thai Pongal, Mattu Pongal and Kaanum Pongal.
Students and teachers dressed in traditional attire added to the spirit of celebration, creating an atmosphere filled with cultural pride and joy.
The programme featured a range of student-led activities, including folk dances, traditional music performances and skits that highlighted the significance of Pongal and its close association with agrarian life.
Demonstrations of age-old customs drew attention to the importance of expressing gratitude to farmers, nature and cattle, reinforcing the festival’s message of harmony between humans and the environment.
Addressing the gathering, the school management stressed the role of traditional festivals in nurturing cultural awareness, respect for heritage and values of thankfulness and togetherness among young learners.
Students were encouraged to understand Pongal not merely as a celebration, but as a tribute to hard work, sustainability and coexistence.
The Pongal celebrations concluded on a joyful note, leaving students with lasting memories and a deeper appreciation of India’s rich cultural traditions.
