Panic gripped a government hospital in Mathura on Thursday after an e-rickshaw driver arrived for treatment carrying a snake that had allegedly bitten him. The incident caused shock among doctors, patients and hospital staff.
Deepak, aged 39, an e-rickshaw driver from Mathura, walked into the hospital seeking treatment. Moments later, he stunned everyone by pulling out a live snake, about one-and-a-half feet long, from his bag. The reptile reportedly raised its head, triggering panic in the crowded premises.
Doctors immediately asked him to leave the snake outside and return for treatment. Deepak told the medical staff that the snake had bitten him and demanded an anti-venom injection, leading to a brief commotion.
Police were alerted and later recovered the snake. Hospital authorities said it was suspected that the snake had been brought deliberately by the man. An inquiry is under way to ascertain the circumstances of the incident.
