Lesbian relationship dispute ends in brutal murder

A chilling murder case in Fatehpur district of Uttar Pradesh has come to light, revealing how a domestic dispute linked to a lesbian relationship allegedly led to the killing of a farmer by his own wife with the help of contract killers.
The body of Sumer Singh, 33, a farmer from Tihar village under the Asodhara police station limits, was found in a field on January 14.
Acting on local information, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. Initial inquiries suggested murder by unidentified
persons.
However, sustained investigation uncovered shocking details. Police revealed that Sumer Singh was allegedly murdered at the behest of his wife, Renu Devi, 28.
During questioning, it emerged that Renu Devi was involved in a same-sex relationship with Malti Devi, 27, a woman from the same village.
Police said Malti Devi, who had reportedly married three men earlier and was living separately from them, frequently visited Renu Devi’s house whenever Sumer Singh was away for agricultural work.
The relationship came to light when Sumer Singh unexpectedly returned home one day and allegedly found the two women in a compromising situation.
Shocked by what he saw, he confronted his wife and questioned her about the relationship.
Following this, Sumer Singh and his family members reportedly warned Renu Devi and forbade Malti Devi from visiting the house.
Despite this, the relationship allegedly continued in secret. Police said Renu Devi bought a mobile phone for Malti Devi without her family’s knowledge, and the two remained in constant contact.
Investigators revealed that the women later decided to eliminate Sumer Singh, whom they saw as an obstacle to their relationship.
They allegedly approached Jitendra Gupta, known to Malti Devi, and struck a deal for Rs. 60,000 to carry out the murder. An advance payment of Rs. 8,000 was reportedly made.
According to police, Jitendra Gupta, along with accomplices Raju Sonkar and Ram Prakash, strangled Sumer Singh, assaulted him with a hammer and dumped the body in a nearby
field.
Police have arrested Renu Devi, Malti Devi and Raju Sonkar, and seized three mobile phones and the rope used in the crime.
Efforts are under way to nab the remaining accused as the investigation
continues.
