Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International School of Textiles and Management observed National Girl Child Day 2026 with a series of awareness programmes focusing on gender equality and leadership development.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. P. Alli Rani, Director, SVPISTM, emphasised the crucial role of families in shaping young minds. She said that while gender discrimination remains ingrained in certain family environments, many parents continue to raise their daughters with equality and encouragement. Stressing the responsibility of parents, she highlighted the need for fathers to play a proactive role in guiding and empowering their daughters. She also called for collective societal efforts to change mindsets and promote gender equality.
As part of the celebrations, a video presentation titled “Educating Girls for Leadership Excellence” was presented by Bala Murugan and his team, followed by an awareness skit titled “Silence Is Not Safety.” An elocution competition on the theme “Confidence Is the First Step to Leadership” witnessed active participation from students, encouraging them to reflect on their leadership potential.
The programme concluded with a prize distribution ceremony recognising students who excelled in the various competitions held as part of the observance.
