Chief Minister N. Rangasamy on Tuesday inaugurated the foundation stone laying ceremony for improvement works at Ayakulam in Muthirapalayam, under the Indira Nagar Assembly constituency, to be carried out using SASCI 2025–26 funds at an estimated cost of Rs 358.48 lakh.
The Chief Minister also performed the Bhoomi Puja to mark the commencement of reconstruction works of the side walls of the sewage canal stretching from Muthirapalayam Amman Nagar to Mettupalayam Road. The canal project has been sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs 1,76,65,431.
Minister Lakshmi Narayanan, MLAs A.K.D. Arumugam, Sivasankar and K.S.P. Ramesh were present at the function. Senior officials including Public Works Department Secretary Muthamma, Chief Engineer Veera Selvam, Superintending Engineer Sundaramoorthy, Irrigation Executive Engineer Rajkumar, Assistant Engineer Louis Prakasam and Junior Engineer Gnanasekaran also participated.
Local residents, members of the public and prominent personalities attended the ceremony and welcomed the commencement of the long-pending infrastructure works, which are expected to improve drainage and water management in the area.
