Divyodaya centre marks Gandhi Martyrdom day with peace visit

The Divyodaya Inter-Religious Centre observed the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi with a solemn programme that reaffirmed his enduring ideals of truth, non-violence and communal harmony.
The commemoration brought together staff members, students and members of the Peace and Harmony Club in an atmosphere of reflection and collective commitment to Gandhian values. The programme began with a prayer followed by a period of silence in memory of the Father of the Nation.

Speakers highlighted the relevance of Gandhi’s principles in today’s conflict-ridden world and called upon the younger generation to practise peace and tolerance in everyday life. As part of the observance, students of the Peace and Harmony Club undertook an educational visit to the Fort of Patriotism at Chavady and the Gandhi Memorial at Podanur. The visit was designed to provide experiential learning by linking history with values. At the memorial, students reflected on Gandhi’s life, sacrifice and vision of inclusive patriotism that transcends divisions and promotes unity in diversity.

The visit concluded with the students taking a pledge to uphold peace, non-violence and social responsibility in their personal and social conduct.
The observance served not only as a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi but also as a renewed reminder of the need to embody his ideals in contemporary society. Through such initiatives, the Divyodaya Inter-Religious Centre continues to promote peace, harmony and responsible citizenship among the youth.
