Father and son clear teacher eligibility test

In an inspiring achievement, a father and son from Vedaranyam in Nagapattinam district have cleared the Teacher Eligibility Test at the same time, drawing praise from educators and the public alike.
Poonkundran, 55, a resident of Dethakudi North village near Vedaranyam, has been working as a secondary grade teacher in a school under the Kilvelur block for the past 13 years.
He entered the teaching profession at the age of 42 after clearing Teacher Eligibility Test Paper 1.
His son Rahul, 27, is a B.E. B.Ed. graduate aspiring to join the teaching profession. Both father and son appeared for Teacher Eligibility Test Paper 2 conducted recently.
The results, announced on Saturday, brought double joy to the family as both cleared the examination. Poonkundran secured 85 marks, while his son Rahul scored 86 marks, surpassing his father by one mark.
The achievement has been widely appreciated, particularly Poonkundran’s determination to continue his academic journey and succeed in a competitive examination at the age of 55. Educationists and local residents have lauded the father-son duo for their perseverance and commitment to the teaching profession.
Many have described the achievement as a motivating example for aspirants, highlighting that age is no barrier to learning and success.
