Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam founder Vijay on Sunday paid floral tributes to the statues of key ideological leaders at the party headquarters in Panaiyur, marking the beginning of the party’s third year.
The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam was launched by Vijay on February 2, 2024. With the party completing two years, a function to mark its entry into the third year was organised at the headquarters, in which party president Vijay took part.
As part of the programme, Vijay garlanded the statues of former Chief Minister K. Kamarajar, social reformer Periyar E.V. Ramasamy, Constitution architect Dr B.R. Ambedkar, freedom fighter Queen Velu Nachiyar and labour leader Anjalai Ammal, and paid homage. Party sources said these leaders represent the core principles and ideological foundation of the party.
After paying tributes, Vijay participated in the third-year inaugural function held at the headquarters, where senior functionaries and party cadres were present.
Party leaders said the new year would focus on organisational consolidation and expanding the party’s presence across Tamil Nadu, guided by the ideals of social justice, equality and empowerment championed by the leaders honoured at the event.
