Dr. Nalla G. Palaniswami receives Nanayam Vikatan lifetime achievement award

Nanayam Vikatan, the business and financial magazine of the Vikatan Group, presented its prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Nalla G. Palaniswami, Chairman of Kovai Medical Center and Hospital, at a ceremony held here recently.
The honour recognises Dr. Palaniswami’s outstanding contribution to India’s socio-economic development through his pioneering efforts in establishing world-class healthcare facilities and promoting accessible, industry-oriented education.
After building a successful medical career in the United States, Dr. Palaniswami returned to India with a clear vision to introduce advanced medical technology and global standards of care. He founded Kovai Medical Center and Hospital, which under his leadership emerged as a leading tertiary care institution and transformed Coimbatore into a major healthcare hub.
KMCH was among the first in the region to introduce advanced procedures such as multi-organ transplantation and robotic surgeries, enabling patients to receive complex treatments closer to home. The KMCH Group today provides employment to more than 6,000 people, making it one of the largest healthcare employers in western Tamil Nadu.
Beyond healthcare, Dr. Palaniswami established the Dr. N.G.P. Group of Institutions, offering education across arts, science, engineering and paramedical disciplines. His focus on bridging academia and industry has helped thousands of students build sustainable careers.
His philanthropic work through the NGP Research and Educational Trust has consistently supported underprivileged students and ensured subsidised medical care for economically weaker sections, reflecting his belief that true success lies in social upliftment.
Accepting the award, Dr. Palaniswami expressed gratitude to the Vikatan Group and said the recognition belonged to the doctors, educators and staff who shared his journey. He reiterated his commitment to ensuring that quality healthcare and education remain accessible rights for all sections of society.
