Lawyers thrash sexual assault convict

In a shocking incident that has once again raised serious questions about courtroom discipline, a group of lawyers allegedly assaulted a convicted accused in a sexual assault case inside the premises of a Bhopal court on Wednesday.
The accused, identified as Osaf Ali Khan, was produced before the court in connection with a case of sexual assault on an 11th standard minor girl.
Police had arrested him in July last year after allegations that he sexually assaulted the girl, recorded the act on video and later used the footage to blackmail her.
According to court sources and eyewitnesses, as soon as Osaf Ali Khan was brought to the court premises under police escort today, a section of lawyers present at the spot became furious and launched a physical attack on him.
The lawyers reportedly rained blows on the accused even as police personnel tried to intervene and shield him.
A violent scuffle ensued between the lawyers and the police escort team, leading to chaotic scenes inside the court complex.
A video clip showing several lawyers thrashing and pelting the accused has now gone viral on social media platforms, drawing sharp reactions from various quarters.
