Wife, lover held for husband’s murder in Etawah

A 45-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his wife and her alleged lover in Badiya Pura village of Etawah district in Uttar Pradesh, police said on Tuesday.
The victim, identified as Ranveer Singh, was married to Pooja, 40.
According to police sources, Pooja was allegedly in a relationship with Arpit, a 20-year-old from the same village. Frequent disputes had reportedly arisen after Ranveer Singh came to know about the alleged affair.
On Monday night, Pooja allegedly served alcohol to her husband at their residence.
After he became heavily intoxicated and unconscious, she and Arpit allegedly attacked him with an axe, killing him on the spot, investigators said.
The accused reportedly fled the house after the incident. On Tuesday morning, relatives who grew suspicious when the house remained locked forced their way in and found Ranveer Singh lying in a pool of blood. They alerted the police immediately.
Police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination.
A case was registered and a search launched.
Pooja and Arpit were later arrested near Ahnia bridge area in Etawah district. Further investigation is under way.
