A 19-year-old woman was shot dead in Shivaji Nagar, Mumbai, in a shocking case of a love triangle that has stunned the locality.
The victim, Shiba Sheikh, was reportedly in a relationship with a young man who was also involved with another woman aged 25.
Police said tensions escalated after the second relationship came to light, leading to frequent quarrels.
On Tuesday, the 25-year-old woman allegedly called Shiba to meet her near Burhaniya Mosque under the pretext of holding talks.
An argument broke out between the two during which the accused reportedly pulled out a concealed handgun and opened fire before fleeing the scene.
The bullet pierced Shiba’s cheek and lodged in her skull. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries despite treatment.
Based on CCTV footage and technical evidence, Mumbai Police arrested the 25-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man who allegedly assisted her in the crime. Further investigation is under way.
