PSG and Sons Charities observed Staff Day on Thursday at the PSG IMSR Auditorium in Coimbatore, coinciding with its centenary year celebrations.
The programme commemorated the birth anniversary of Dr. G.R. Damodaran, noted educationist and Founding Principal of PSG College of Arts and Science and PSG College of Technology. Staff members from the educational, healthcare and industrial institutions under the Trust participated in the event.
As part of the celebrations, 62 staff members were honoured under three categories in recognition of their dedicated service. Service Awards were presented to employees who had completed 25 years of service. The Trust also felicitated those who retired from PSG Industrial Institute and PSG Metallurgy and Foundry Division in 2025.
The Kumar Arumugam Memorial Prize was awarded to Prof. Krishnaveni, Assistant Professor, Department of Microbiology, PSG College of Arts and Science, and Girija, Manager (Billing), Student Section, for their contribution to institutional excellence. Girija was specially recognised for completing 30 consecutive years without a single late entry.
Tamil orator S. Raja, popularly known as Pattimandram Raja, graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
In his address, he said PSG’s presence in Coimbatore was a matter of pride for the city and described Dr. G.R. Damodaran as a visionary who chose education over industry at a crucial time. He noted that institutions founded with noble intent continue to stand apart and appreciated the Trust for recognising its staff. He said the strength of any organisation lies in the commitment and satisfaction of its people, and likened PSG to a banyan tree nurturing generations.
The observance reaffirmed the Trust’s commitment to acknowledging and celebrating the contributions of its staff across institutions.
