Former BJP Tamil Nadu State President K. Annamalai on Friday accused the DMK government of spreading false claims about the Prime Minister’s remarks on Tamils during the Bihar election campaign to divert attention from corruption allegations against its ministers.
Speaking to reporters at the Coimbatore International Airport after arriving from Chennai, Annamalai said the DMK government had indulged in several corrupt practices, particularly in the local administration sector. He alleged that corruption charges have been raised against Local Administration Minister K.N. Nehru and Food and Civil Supplies Minister R. Sakkarapani.
“To cover up these corruption complaints, the DMK is falsely claiming that the Prime Minister made remarks against Tamils during his Bihar campaign. In reality, the Prime Minister had only referred to past instances where DMK leaders had spoken disparagingly about the people of Bihar,” Annamalai said.
He further charged that the DMK was opposing the Election Commission’s special voter list revision process, claiming that irregularities in the voter rolls across several constituencies were now being corrected through this drive.
“This is a constitutional process — no one’s voting rights have been taken away. On the contrary, it ensures that every citizen’s right to vote is fully protected,” he added.
