The double-decker tourist bus introduced by the Kerala State Transport Corporation (KSRTC) to showcase Munnar’s scenic attractions has created a record by earning Rs 1 crore in just 10 months.
The fiberglass double-decker bus, named Royal View, was launched on February 8 to provide tourists with a panoramic travel experience across Munnar’s misty landscapes. Since its introduction, the service has become a major attraction among both domestic and international visitors.
More than 30,000 tourists have travelled on the bus so far. The Royal View can carry 50 passengers — 12 on the lower deck and 38 on the open-top upper deck.
The fare is Rs 400 for the upper deck and Rs 200 for the lower deck. The route, operated from the Munnar Depot, covers key tourist spots up to the Anaiyarangal Dam, offering travellers a scenic ride through tea plantations, hills, and viewpoints.
The KSRTC operates the bus three times a day — at 9 a.m., 12.30 p.m., and 4 p.m. Owing to its immense popularity, the service achieved a revenue milestone of nearly Rs 1 crore within a short period.
It is noteworthy that videos and photos of the Munnar double-decker bus continue to go viral on social media, boosting its fame among tourists planning to visit the hill station.
