Youth from Karnataka wins ₹49 Crore in UAE lottery

In a stroke of extraordinary luck, a young man from Karnataka has won a massive ₹49 crore in a popular lottery conducted in the United Arab Emirates.
The winner has been identified as Shantanu Shettikar, a resident of the Kadappadi Maddu area in Udupi district. Shantanu, who hails from a farming family, was working in Oman when he purchased the lottery ticket.
According to reports, the ticket bought by Shantanu won a jackpot of 20 million dirhams in the latest draw, which translates to approximately Rs 49 crore in Indian currency. He had purchased the winning ticket for 500 dirhams, around Rs 12,300.
Sources said Shantanu had been regularly buying lottery tickets for the past few days, hoping for a breakthrough. His persistence finally paid off, turning him into a multi-crore winner overnight.
Adding to the joy, it is learnt that Shantanu and his family welcomed a baby girl just last month, making the win even more special for the young father.
The news of the windfall has brought cheer to his native village in Udupi district, with relatives and well-wishers celebrating his remarkable fortune.
