A light-hearted moment involving former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and his wife Sakshi Dhoni during the T20 World Cup semi-final between India and England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai has gone viral on social media.
India won the thrilling contest by seven runs and advanced to the final of the 2026 T20 World Cup.
During the 18th over of the match, England’s Sam Curran hit a ball bowled by Jasprit Bumrah straight towards the bowler. The ball bounced on the ground before reaching Bumrah.
Sakshi Dhoni, who was watching the match from the VIP gallery, mistakenly thought the ball had been caught and immediately jumped up from her seat to celebrate.
Dhoni, noticing the moment, gestured to her that the ball had touched the ground and signalled her to sit down. His calm reaction and smile drew laughter from those around him.
The brief exchange between Dhoni and Sakshi was captured on camera and has since been widely shared on social media, with fans appreciating the humorous moment during the high-pressure match.
