Kovai Courtallam eco-tourism centre has been temporarily closed on November 5 following a sharp rise in water levels at the waterfalls due to continuous heavy rainfall in the Western Ghats. The Forest Department announced the closure as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of visitors.
The waterfalls, located in the Sadivayal area of Coimbatore district, have witnessed a heavy flow of water from the catchment areas. Officials warned that entering the falls or visiting the surrounding area could be dangerous.
The Forest Department has advised tourists to avoid the destination until rainfall subsides and water flow returns to normal.
The eco-tourism centre will reopen only after conditions improve.
