The UGC-Sponsored Centre for Women’s Studies, KCW-CARES Centre for Energy Studies, and the Rotaract Club and Fine Arts Association of PSGR Krishnammal College for Women jointly organised “Yuvathi’26,” the International Women’s Day celebrations, in association with Rotary Coimbatore City at the PSGRKC Alumni Golden Jubilee Auditorium on Sunday.
The programme began with a welcome address by N. Yesodha Devi, Secretary of PSGR Krishnammal College for Women, who highlighted the institution’s commitment to empowering young women through education, leadership and social responsibility. The event reflected the global theme “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls,” emphasising the importance of collective efforts to advance gender equality.

The Women’s Day address was delivered by Aarti C. Rajaratnam, psychologist, author and curriculum design consultant. She spoke about the significance of psychological well-being, critical thinking and confidence in shaping empowered individuals.
S. Madhana Gopal, consultant physiotherapist with Samagra Shiksha under the Department of School Education, attended the programme as the guest of honour and shared insights on inclusive education and student well-being.
A highlight of the celebration was the WoW (Women of Worth) Awards, presented to 15 women who have made notable contributions in fields such as healthcare, commerce, entrepreneurship, management and academia.

During the event, G. Suresh, president of Rotary Coimbatore City, delivered the felicitation address and announced the launch of “Puthuyir Kavasam,” a cervical cancer HPV vaccination initiative aimed at supporting 1,000 rural women and promoting preventive healthcare.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Sushil Mary Mathews, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of English, PSGR Krishnammal College for Women. Cultural performances by students marked the closing of the celebrations.
