Devarajan elected CII Chairman, Murugavel Vice Chairman

C. Devarajan, Managing Director of URC Constructions (P) Ltd., Erode, has been elected Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Tamil Nadu State Council for the year 2026–27.
Devarajan, who has around 38 years of experience in the construction and infrastructure development sector, heads URC Constructions, a 66-year-old enterprise that has diversified into real estate, software, sustainable textiles and agriculture.
The URC group today provides direct and indirect employment to nearly 10,000 families.
He served as Vice Chairman of the CII Tamil Nadu State Council during 2025–26 and is also a Board Member of ILCE, an initiative focused on improving efficiency in the construction and infrastructure sector.
He is the Co-Founder and Vice Chairman of Texvalley, Erode, and serves as Prathinithi at the Kasturba Gandhi National Memorial Trust Institute, Erode.
He is also one of the founding members and Vice Chairman of the Olirum Erode Foundation.
J. Murugavel, Founder, Chairman, Managing Director and CEO of Matrimony.com Ltd., Chennai, has been elected Vice Chairman of the CII Tamil Nadu State Council for the year
2026–27.
Murugavel is the founder of Matrimony.com Ltd., one of India’s leading online matrimony service providers.
He pioneered online matchmaking in India in 1997, transforming the traditional matrimonial service industry into a trusted digital platform serving millions of users worldwide.
He has received several recognitions, including being featured among the top Asian Indian businessmen in the United States and being nominated twice as Entrepreneur of the Year by The Economic Times.
He earlier served as Chairman of the CII Chennai Zone, Member of the CII Tamil Nadu State Council and Chairman of the CII CEO Forum.
