DMDK leader L.K. Sudheesh was asked to remove his party scarf before taking oath as a Rajya Sabha member, following directions from Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan.
Members newly elected to the Rajya Sabha from across the country were sworn in on Monday. From Tamil Nadu, those who took oath included Trichy Siva and J. Constantine Ravindran of the DMK, Christopher Thilak of the Congress, Thambidurai of the AIADMK, Anbumani Ramadoss of the PMK, and L.K. Sudheesh of the DMDK.
When Sudheesh approached to take oath wearing a party scarf, Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan advised him to remove it before proceeding, following parliamentary norms. Sudheesh complied with the direction and completed the oath-taking process.
After taking oath, Sudheesh greeted the Chairman and later displayed a photograph of DMDK founder Vijayakanth to members in the House.
The brief exchange drew attention during the swearing-in proceedings in the Upper House.
