Chennai-based rider Johann Emmanuel created history by becoming the first Indian to win the Qatar Superstock 600 Championship, clinching the title in his debut season with a dominant performance in the final round.
Riding a Kawasaki ZX-6, the 19-year-old secured victory in both races of the season-ending double-header, overcoming a nine-point deficit behind Hungary’s Marton Belleli heading into the decisive weekend.
Starting from second on the grid, Johann delivered under pressure, winning both races to seal the championship with a 21-point margin. He finished the season with six wins from 10 races despite facing setbacks, including a high-speed crash at over 200 kmph and three retirements due to mechanical issues.
Johann described the triumph as a landmark moment in his career, noting that the title in his debut international season on a 600cc machine made all the hard work worthwhile.
His campaign was marked by resilience, as he bounced back strongly from an early-season crash to maintain consistency and pace throughout the competition.
The achievement marks a significant milestone for Indian motorsport, with Johann emerging as the first rider from the country to secure the Qatar Superstock 600 Championship title.
