District Collector S. Kandasamy conducted an inspection on Wednesday at the designated vote counting centers: the Government Engineering College in Erode and the Gobi Arts and Science College in Gobichettipalayam.
The vote counting for the eight assembly constituencies within the Erode district is scheduled to take place on May 4th, commencing at 8:00 AM, across these two designated centers: the Government Engineering College in Sithode and the Gobi Arts and Science College in Gobichettipalayam. A total of 408 officials—comprising 17 supervisors, 17 assistants, and 17 micro-observers for each assembly constituency—will be engaged in the vote counting process at these centers.
The counting of votes recorded in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be conducted across 112 tables—specifically, 14 tables allocated for each of the eight constituencies. For the counting of postal ballots, 56 supervisors, 112 assistants, and 56 micro-observers will be deployed across the eight constituencies; this process will be carried out across 48 tables.
District Collector S. Kandasamy personally visited and inspected both vote counting centers in Erode and Gobichettipalayam. He verified that the Electronic Voting Machines were secured under a three-tier security protocol and were being continuously monitored via surveillance cameras displayed on LED screens. He also inspected the various registers and records maintained within the counting centers.
Furthermore, he inspected the basic amenities available at the centers—such as drinking water facilities and restrooms—and toured key areas including the vote counting halls, vehicle parking zones, the strongroom designated for storing postal ballots, the media room, and the police surveillance room.
District Superintendent of Police Kiran Shruti and other officials accompanied the Collector during this inspection.
