Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay, who released water from the Mettur Dam for Delta irrigation, visited the home of a farmer in Chinnakavur and interacted with his family members.
After attending the water-release programme at Mettur Dam, the Chief Minister took a brief rest at the inspection bungalow before leaving. He then visited the house of farmer Ramasamy in Chinnakavur village, near the Mettur Thermal Power Station.
Ramasamy’s family members warmly welcomed the Chief Minister and took him around their farm. Vijay enquired about their agricultural activities and interacted with the farmers and family members.
Elderly woman Chellammal held the Chief Minister’s hand, touched his cheek and blessed him. Vijay distributed dhotis and sarees to the farmers and family members. He also put on Chellammal the sunglasses he was wearing.
When the Chief Minister left the house, members of Chellammal’s family accompanied him up to the road and bid him farewell.
Chellammal said she had never imagined that the Chief Minister would visit her house. She said she was speechless on seeing him and was happy that he visited their farm and interacted with them.
Later, while travelling by van from Mettur towards Thoppur on the Salem district border, Vijay noticed elderly women standing by the roadside. He stopped the vehicle, got down and enquired about their well-being. The women subsequently greeted and blessed the Chief Minister.
