An advanced robotic gait training service using Exoskeleton technology for people affected by spinal cord injuries was launched in Tiruvannamalai on Wednesday.
District Collector Vandana Garg inaugurated the service during the fifth edition of the “Maathiyosi 2026” programme held at the Soul Free Inspire Centre, marking World Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Week.
The Exoskeleton-based Advanced Robotics Gait Training service has been introduced to support the rehabilitation of people who have lost their ability to walk due to spinal cord injuries. Soul Free is providing the training completely free of cost to its beneficiaries.
The technology is expected to improve mobility and create new opportunities in the rehabilitation journey of spinal cord injury survivors.
Following the inauguration, Collector Vandana Garg inspected the Exoskeleton-based training facility and reviewed its functioning.
District Differently Abled Welfare Officer Saradha, Soul Free trustee Dr. Preethi Srinivasan and officials from various departments participated in the programme.
