DMK’s Mupperum vizha postponed as M. K. Stalin develops fever

The DMK’s Mupperum Vizha, scheduled to be held at the Kalaignar Arangam at Anna Arivalayam in Chennai on Monday evening, has been postponed following fever and a sudden health issue faced by DMK president M. K. Stalin.In a statement, DMK general secretary Duraimurugan said the function scheduled for September 15 evening had been postponed as the DMK president had developed fever. The new date for the function would be announced later, he said.
The Mupperum Vizha was to honour several party functionaries with the 2026 Periyar, Anna, Kalaignar, Pavendhar, Perasiriyar and M. K. Stalin awards.
The Periyar Award was to be presented to K. Sellappa, deputy secretary of the Agriculture Wing; the Anna Award to Salem G. K. Subash, Salem Central District presidium chairman; the Kalaignar Award to deputy general secretary Trichy Siva; the Pavendhar Award to Medical Wing president Kanimozhi N. V. N. Somu; the Perasiriyar Award to head executive committee member Misa S. Ahmed Thambi; and the M. K. Stalin Award to Youth Wing deputy secretary Na. Ilaiyaraja.
The Murasoli Trust had also announced that the 2026 Murasoli Selvam Award would be presented to journalist and writer Pa. Thirumavelan.
Preparations for the Mupperum Vizha had been under way when the party announced its postponement following Stalin’s health issue.
