Tasmac bars to get food outlets, says minister vignesh

The Tamil Nadu Government will allow food outlets to operate inside Tasmac bars, Minister for Prohibition and Excise K. Vignesh said in Coimbatore on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters, K. Vignesh said the liquor procurement system would be restructured and several changes would be introduced. He said there were 11 liquor manufacturing companies and orders were being distributed equally among them.He said the government was not functioning with an intention to target or discriminate against anyone. The reforms in the Tasmac department were aimed at changing its functioning and creating a system that would help build an alcohol-free Tamil Nadu, he said.
On action against FL-2 bars in Coimbatore, the Minister said steps had been taken against outlets that violated rules. After regulating FL-1 government liquor shops, his focus would be on FL-2 bars, he said.K. Vignesh said tenders for Tasmac bars would be issued within a month and provisions would be made to allow food outlets to operate there. This would enable Food Safety Department officials to conduct inspections and take action against the sale of substandard food products, he said.He also said Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay would visit Coimbatore soon.
