Thaimaman Gold Ring Scheme Launch Shifted From Usilampatti To Madurai

The inauguration of the Tamil Nadu Government’s Thaimaman Gold Ring Scheme, which was scheduled to be held at the Usilampatti Government Hospital, has reportedly been shifted to the Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital.
Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is scheduled to launch the scheme on September 28. Under the scheme, one-gram gold rings will be provided to children born in government hospitals from June 22, 2026. The scheme was officially announced by the Tamil Nadu Government, and Rs. 755.83 crore has been allocated annually for its implementation.
The scheme was initially scheduled to be launched on September 15, the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai. The launch was subsequently postponed to September
28.The inauguration was earlier expected to be held at the Usilampatti Government Hospital in Madurai district. However, reports now indicate that the venue has been shifted to the Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital due to security considerations. Preparatory works are under way at the hospital ahead of the Chief Minister’s visit on September 28.
Around 6,500 children in Madurai district have so far been included in the list of beneficiaries for the gold rings. Rings meant for distribution have been kept at the Madurai Government Rajaji Hospital and the government hospitals in Thirumangalam, Usilampatti and Melur.As part of the inaugural programme, Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay is expected to distribute gold rings to 50 beneficiaries at the function. He is also expected to distribute rings to children born at the hospital on the day of the programme.
