Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s election campaign meeting in support of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam candidate K. Maragatham Kumaravel in the Madurantakam Assembly constituency on September 25 has been shifted from Acharapakkam to Thozhupedu citing security reasons.
According to reports, arrangements are being made at a site near the Chennai–Tiruchi National Highway in the Thozhupedu area, with preparations under way for the stage and other facilities.
Party sources said the venue was shifted considering security requirements and the possibility of a large turnout.
It is also being reported that entry to the meeting may be restricted to people from the Madurantakam constituency.
Party functionaries are reportedly collecting Aadhaar details as part of the arrangements.
The Madurantakam Assembly by-election is scheduled for October 6.
