Kamaraj Breakfast Scheme extended to classes 6 to 8 in Coimbatore

The Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme, extended to students studying in Classes 6 to 8, was launched at Rathinapuri Corporation Higher Secondary School in Coimbatore on Tuesday.
The programme was held by Backward Classes Welfare Minister V. Sampath Kumar, District Collector PavanKumar G. Giriyappanavar, IAS, and Corporation Commissioner Katta Ravi Teja, IAS.
The expanded scheme was inaugurated by lighting the traditional lamp.
Food was served to the students, and the Minister sat with the students and had breakfast. He later planted saplings on the school premises.
Speaking to reporters, Minister V. Sampath Kumar said the Chief Minister had announced the expansion of the Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme to students studying in Classes 6 to 8 in government and government-aided schools, with the nutritional and educational welfare of school students in mind.
He said the expanded scheme was inaugurated by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay at a government middle school in Thiruvanmiyur, Chennai, and breakfast was served to students. Following the inauguration, the expansion of the Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme was implemented across all
districts.
In Coimbatore district, 56,550 students studying in Classes 6 to 8 in 501 schools will benefit from the expanded scheme.
Already, 71,028 students from 1,107 schools studying in Classes 1 to 5 are benefiting from the breakfast
scheme.
With the expansion, a total of 1,27,578 students from 1,608 schools in Coimbatore district will benefit from the scheme.
The Minister thanked Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on behalf of the students and their parents for expanding the scheme for the welfare of students.
Under the expanded Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme, 21,764 students from 130 schools, including middle, high and higher secondary schools, under the Coimbatore Corporation will benefit. Already, 21,242 students are benefiting from the breakfast scheme being implemented in the Corporation limits. With the expansion, a total of 43,006 students from 249 schools under the Corporation will benefit. Earlier, the Minister, District Collector, Corporation Commissioner, representatives of local bodies, school teachers and students watched the live telecast of the inauguration of the expanded Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay.
District Chief Educational Officer Krishnapriya, Corporation Chief Engineer Vijayakumar, Central Zone Chairperson Meena Logu, Assistant Commissioner Ganesan, Corporation Education Officer Gunasekaran, Assistant Executive Engineer Saravanakumar, Councillors Gayathri and Prabhakaran, School Headmistress Seethalakshmi, Zonal Health Officer Gunasekaran, Assistant Engineer Kumaresan, Health Inspector Saravanakumar and several Corporation officials participated in the programme.
