Four arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting plus-two student in Kanyakumari

Four men have been arrested under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other sections for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old Plus-Two student from Kanyakumari district on multiple occasions, police said.
The student, from the Vellimalai police station limits, had reportedly gone missing last month and returned home a week later. During a subsequent inquiry by her parents, she allegedly disclosed that she had been taken to different locations and sexually assaulted.According to the complaint, the student had become acquainted with Ajan (20) of Thadikarankonam through Instagram. Police said Ajan allegedly took her to various places, sexually assaulted her in a lodge and recorded the incident. He allegedly threatened her using the video and later shared it on Instagram after she refused to meet him again.
The student subsequently informed Vivek (32) of Vembanur, whom she reportedly knew, about the incident. Police alleged that Vivek also sexually assaulted her and later informed his friend Dinesh (29) of Parappuvilai.Dinesh allegedly took the student to an apartment and confined her there for about a week. He allegedly assaulted her and also allowed his friend Anto Jerish (24) of Nagercoil to sexually assault her, according to the complaint.
After the student escaped and returned home, she was taken to Asaripallam Government Medical College Hospital for medical examination.
The Kulachal All-Women Police Station registered a case under six sections, including the POCSO Act, and arrested Ajan, Vivek, Dinesh and Anto Jerish. They were produced before a court and remanded in judicial custody.
