Heavy rain lasting more than two hours has disrupted normal life across several parts of Coimbatore, with waterlogging on roads affecting motorists and power cuts causing inconvenience to residents.
Several areas, including Gandhipuram, R.S. Puram, Ganapathy, Sanganur, Goundampalayam, Saibaba Colony, Sivananda Colony, Thudiyalur, Idaiyarpalayam and Kavundampalayam, have experienced continuous heavy rainfall.
Rainwater has been flowing across several roads, making travel difficult for motorists. Power outages reported in multiple areas have added to residents’ difficulties.
The situation is particularly challenging on the Goundampalayam–Nallampalayam Road, where rainwater is reportedly flowing like a torrent, bringing two-wheeler traffic to a complete halt.
Residents have urged the authorities to take immediate steps to drain accumulated rainwater from roads and restore electricity in affected areas. The continuing downpour has raised concerns over traffic movement and public inconvenience across the city.
