CB-CID Questions Parents for Second Day in Missing Girl Case

The CB-CID continued its investigation for the second consecutive day on Friday by questioning the parents of seven-year-old Hemavathi, who went missing from her home in Alampoondi village near Gingee in Villupuram district.

Hemavathi, a Class 2 student at a local panchayat union primary school, went missing after celebrating her birthday at home on the night of October 11. She had slept beside her mother that night but was found missing the following morning. Her parents, Vadivel and Bhavani, searched for her in several places before lodging a complaint at Sathiyamangalam police station.

Despite an extensive search operation, police had been unable to trace the girl for 11 days. Ten special teams, comprising three Deputy Superintendents of Police, five inspectors and five sub-inspectors, were deployed to investigate the case.

Police also collected mobile phone numbers belonging to around 600 people and questioned 20 suspects, but these efforts yielded no breakthrough. Director General of Police Mahesh Kumar Aggarwal subsequently ordered the transfer of the case to the CB-CID.

A team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Geetha began its investigation on Thursday. Officers visited the girl’s house and questioned her parents about the events surrounding her disappearance, the people who attended the birthday celebration and any possible previous enmity involving the family.

DSP Geetha, Inspector Revathi and other personnel also inspected several locations near the house. The investigation is continuing.
