Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday launched the ‘Chennai One’ mobile application, developed by the Chennai Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (CUMTA) to provide seamless travel across the city’s major public transport systems.
The app allows commuters to book tickets by selecting their departure and destination points, enabling them to travel on Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) buses, Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL) services, and in later phases, suburban trains—all through a single digital platform.
Officials said the app integrates real-time information from Chennai’s vast transport network, including bus stops, routes, and Metro stations, while also offering facilities to book rental cabs and autos. With over 50 lakh passengers depending on public transport daily in Chennai, the government believes this initiative will significantly ease city travel.
Launching the app, Stalin said the step reflects the government’s commitment to modernizing urban mobility and making public transport more convenient for citizens.
The “Chennai One” app is now available for download, and transport officials noted that integration with suburban trains and last-mile connectivity services will be expanded in future updates.
